Understanding how human impacts are changing deltas, and the consequences for natural and cultural heritage.
We assess and quantify how human impacts are changing delta ecosystems in terms of water quality, flood risk and ecosystem response. We evaluate the consequences for natural and cultural heritage, both presently and in the future. We facilitate the development of tools for communicating delta health for policy-makers and local communities.
Community science.
We work alongside delta communities to monitor and document environmental change, improve access to resources and where necessary provide training. We challenge inequalities in these regions and develop relationships with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) already working in the deltas to promote climate activism and sustainable water management systems.
Monitoring working group.
The Monitoring Working Group aims to quantify how human impacts are affecting delta aquatic ecosystems. We assess the consequences for natural and cultural heritage, using a range of techniques to understand past, current, and future water quality.
Delta Health Index.
The Delta Health Index (DHI) allows stakeholders in each region to assess and track the sustainability and management plan of each specific delta ecosystem. The DHI is a unique index encompassing ecosystem processes, ecosystem services and socio-economics and governance. The index feeds into all of our other Living Deltas priorities, allowing for more complete collaboration and engagement across deltas and their communities.
