Voices of the Delta.

Heritage, Livelihoods and Delta Living: pasts, presents and alternative futures.

Only by working together with those that live on deltas can we co-create a sustainable future. To achieve this we need to work in a multidisciplinary way to understand the complex relationships between people’s heritages, how they live now, and the effect human activities and environmental change will have on these areas.

Oral History & Ageing.

By adopting a participatory approach, we’re exploring the relationship between ageing and the environment by listening to and learning from those who have first-hand experience of environmental change in delta regions. Through all our activities, we promote the inclusion of the capacities, rights, and voices of older people in future research and policy on sustainable delta futures. We’re also supporting a joint programme of intergenerational participatory research in the Mekong Delta.

Creative Representations.

We are examining multiple aspects of sustainability - cultural, social and economic - within creative forms and practices. We study how these collectively impact on environmental change and the ability and motivation of people to imagine and enact sustainable future decisions.

Youth Livelihoods and Delta Futures.

To build more sustainable delta futures, we need to understand young people’s experiences of life in the deltas. Together we need to explore the challenges they face, their leisure, and the work they do to try and build more sustainable livelihoods and communities. Young people play critically important roles in responding to changes in the local socio-ecological systems, including through community mobilising and volunteering. Their voices are critical to developing more effective policy mechanisms for sustainable delta futures.
